Day camps available Friday in Coquitlam

The city of Coquitlam is offering up activities for students who are expected to be out of school this Friday, June 13, due to the province-wide rolling teacher strike.

The Pinetree Community Centre will host young people in Grades 1 to 7 between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Games, sports, sciences, crafts and other activities will take place and participants are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing and running shoes

The Poirier Community Centre will also host an event that will feature games, swimming crafts and more for students between the ages of 7 and 12.

Drop off will take place at the Centennial Pavilion Youth Centre in the morning and parents can pick up their children at the Poirier Community Centre MacDonald Room. Swimming at Spani Pool is weather dependent.

The city is also reminding residents that Spani Pool will be open for a public swim between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. It costs $2 per person to enter.

SUMMER PARTY

The city of Coquitlam is hosting a free summer kick-off party at Victoria Community Hall (3435 Victoria Drive) on Thursday, June 12, between 6 and 8 p.m.
