Families living with a loved one with dementia and those with the disease may want to take a workshop in the New Year to learn more about how to cope with changes.
The Alzheimer Society of BC is once again offering the following workshops:
• Shaping the Journey: Living With Dementia on five Tuesdays between Feb. 20 and March 20, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Glen Pine Pavilion in Coquitlam.
This is an education series for people living with dementia and their care partners to explore the journey ahead in a positive, informative and supportive environment. Participants will learn about dementia, explore strategies for coping with changes and maximizing quality of life, review information on planning for the future and meet others who are going through similar experiences.
• Family Caregiver Series runs on four Tuesdays between Jan. 23 and Feb. 13, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Glen Pine Pavilion in Coquitlam.
This is for family members caring for a person living with dementia. Learn about dementia, understanding communication and behaviour, practical coping strategies and early planning.
Pre-registration is required for all sessions. Sessions are also free to attend but donations are appreciated.
