The Inspiration Garden, a teaching and demonstration garden in Coquitlam's Town Centre Park, is presenting three workshops in September:

Sunday, Sept. 15, 9 a.m. to noon: Zero Mile Diet - canning tomatoes: Learn how to blanche, skin, chop and the water bath canning process. Participants take home six jars. Cost: $30.

Saturday, Sept. 21, 1 to 3 p.m.: East Meets West Series - foods that heal: Learn how to grow and use Asian medicinal herbs in everyday recipes, includes food and drink samples, plus a take-home bonus. Cost: $15.

Saturday, Sept. 28, 10 to noon: Zero Mile Diet - introduction to urban permaculture: Learn the basic concepts and 12 design principles of permaculture and how this philosophy ties into urban life and landscapes. Cost: $10.
