Thrifty Foods has partnered with KidSport Tri-Cities with the aim of filling the buggy with second-hand equipment for the group's Aug. 18 sale.

"The more equipment we can get donated, the more money we'll be able to put towards subsidizing registration fees for low-income kids," KidSport organizer Chris Wilson said, noting the donated gear will also be shared with KidSport New West for its Aug. 19 sale.

Since it formed seven years ago, KidSport Tri-Cities has helped more than 1,600 youth participate in organized athletics - including 480 children and teens last year.

Used sporting goods can also be dropped off at Centennial and Gleneagle secondaries until Aug. 15 and, until Aug. 17, at the Port Coquitlam recreation centre, Port Moody recreation complex, Poirier Sport and Leisure Complex and Thriftopolis (D-2579 Lougheed Hwy., PoCo).

The KidSport Tri-Cities' bi-annual sale runs 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Poirier Sport and Leisure Complex (633 Poirier St.) on Saturday, Aug. 18. Admission is by donation or with a item to the Share food bank. For more information, visit www.kidsporttricities.ca.
