If you are over 50, you might want to set aside some time next week to explore new activities.

Coquitlam's two recreation facilities for people 50 years of age and older are holding an open house week from Sept. 9 to 15.

The end of summer is a common time to get more active, break away from routine and start something new. Thus, during open house week at Dogwood and Glen Pine pavilions, adults can drop in and take part in a variety of classes, including: drawing, belly dancing, qigong, dance fitness, machine quilting and woodworking, to name a few.

And everyone who visits on an open house day can enter to win a 10-pass fitness drop-in card.

For more information on dates and times of activities, you can call the pavilions directly: Dogwood at 604-927-6098 or Glen Pine at 604-927-6940.

Detailed information is also available at coquitlam.ca under Recreation, Parks and Culture.

Dogwood Pavilion, which is celebrating its 35th year this year, is located at 624 Poirier St. (near Centennial secondary school), with the entrance of Winslow Avenue. Glen Pine Pavilion is located at 1200 Glen Pine Crt., across the Spirit Square from Coquitlam city hall.
