The first Learn to Fish session to be offered to youth age five to 15 is coming up Thursday May 3 at Lafarge Lake in Coquitlam. This is a great time to learn to fish because the lakes are stocked.
"These spring Learn to Fish classes are always exciting and filled with youngsters anxious to get outside and hone their fishing skills," said outreach assistant Tanya Laird. "The weather is warming up and parents looking for an outdoor activity with their kids should take advantage of this wonderful opportunity. Spring is the best time for trout fishing and programs will be offered now until the end of summer."
The program is free and all gear is provided and the lessons take place at Lafarge and Como Lake Thursday evenings between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.

The program is sponsored by the Habitat Conservation Trust Foundation and presented by the Freshwater Fisheries Society of BC and includes information on fish identification, hatchery roles, tackle, techniques, proper fish handling, conservation, safety and an hour of hands on fishing at the lake!
