Former students of a late Riverside secondary school teacher will host a fundraiser Friday in Port Coquitlam.
Proceeds from the pub night held in memory of Jacques-Andre Larrivee will support a scholarship in his name, to be awarded annually to a Grade 12 French immersion student at the school.
The money will also be used to subsidize the a trip for students to visit France. The popular French immersion teacher, who was one of Riverside's first instructors when it opened in 1996, had retired and was visiting Japan when he died last October of heart failure.
Tickets for the Cat and Fiddle night will be limited at the door. Advance tickets ($15) can be bought through the Larrivee memorial Facebook page or at the school.
