A group concerned about the health of foods with genetically engineered ingredients will be hosting a presentation for Tri-City residents on Nov. 21 at the David Lam campus of Douglas College.

GE Free Tri-Cities and Coquitlam Family Chiropractic have partnered with the Society for a GE-Free BC and Greenpeace Vancouver to bring the "Genetically Engineered Foods and Human Health" speakers tour to Coquitlam.

The event will be held at 7 p.m. in Room A1470 at Douglas' Coquitlam campus and will be an opportunity for the public to discuss its concerns regarding GE foods. The tour features presentations by Thierry Vrain, a retired soil biologist and genetic engineer who, after a 30-year career with Agriculture Canada, now speaks against GE technology, and Shiv Chopra, a former Health Canada senior scientific advisor who has concerns about Monsanto's GE bovine growth hormone.

A suggested donation of $5 is requested but no one will be turned away. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and raffle tickets will be available at the door.
