Ladies and gentlemen, start your engines

On Oct. 6, the British Columbia Coalition of Motorcyclists (BCCOM), in conjunction with the Lower Mainland Christmas Bureau, will be presenting the 35th annual Vancouver Motorcycle Christmas Toy Run.

The event collects toys and raises money to provide assistance for underprivileged families at Christmas. This is one of the most important toy-raising events in the Lower Mainland and directly supports 10 local Christmas bureaus.

The ride leaves the Coquitlam Centre mall parking lot (2929 Barnet Hwy.) at 10 a.m. and proceeds to Barnet Highway from Port Moody to Burnaby, then west along Hastings Street to Vancouver, where it ends at the PNE grounds.

The entry fee for riders is a new child's toy wrapped in plastic (preferably a sports or learning toy) or a monetary donation. Participants are reminded that there are older children in need who have grown out of toys but would enjoy gifts suitable for their age. Limited commemorative pins will be available to participants.
