MAKING A SCENE

Check out artworks by a group of Emily Carr University grads from Port Moody in an exhibit at the Gallery Bistro (2411 Clarke St., PoMo).

BAT WATCH

The sky comes alive at Minnekhada Regional Park as bats leave their roosts to feed. Learn about their importance in the ecosystem at this Metro Vancouver Parks event (ages six and up). Cost is $8/$4.25. Register at www.metrovancouveronline.org or call 604-432-6359 and quote barcode 5742.

MOVIE PREMIER

Teens can catch a flick at the Terry Fox Library (2470 Mary Hill Rd., PoCo) this afternoon, starting at 2 p.m. Call the library at 604-927-7999 for the movie title. For ages 12 and up.

KIDSPORT SALE

If you've got kids, then you know they come with a lot of gear. Save some money on their sporting goods (everything from bikes to hockey gear, fitness equipment and wetsuits) at the KidSport sale at the Poirier Sport & Leisure Complex (633 Poirier Ave., Coquitlam). Admission is by donation or a food bank item. A hockey-specific sale is at the X-treme Threads Warehouse (1371A Kebet Way, PoCo); both run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Proceeds subsidize registration fees for kids from lower income families. ULTIMATE CAR SHOW

The Hard Rock Casino in Coquitlam will turn into a classic car lot from 1 to 8 p.m. The casino has partnered with 360 Fabrication Inc. to display unique custom-built vintage, luxury and muscle cars in the first annual Ultimate Car Show. Be sure to check out the Red Bull tour bus - the vehicle took nine months to build and features a concert stage and hardwood floors. Other vehicles in the show include a 2015 Aston Martin Vanquish, a 1965 Malibu SS convertible (valued at more than $500,000) and a 1969 Camaro appraised at more than $700,000.

MUSIC IN THE SQUARE

Rhythm and Cello bring their folk, rock, reggae and Latin music mix to Leigh Square (2253 Leigh Sq.) for a crowd-pleasing show from 2 to 4 p.m. They'll be joined by the Tri-City School of Music featuring their finest voice, guitar, violin and piano performers.

Blueberry goodness

Rev up your tastebuds for delicious blueberry pancakes during the 10th annual blueberry pancake breakfast at the Coquitlam farmer's market on Poirier Street from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., with pancakes served up by the Port Coquitlam Lions Club. There will also be blueberry themed games and activities, contests and growing advice from various organizations, live music and several market vendors to choose from for fresh produce, baked goods, sauces, crafts and more.

CAR SHOW

Celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Downtown Port Coquitlam Car Show, sponsored by the PoCo Business Improvement Association, with the whole family. More than 500 vintage and custom vehicles will be on display from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. while the live music at Leigh Square, including Reprise, Night Shift and U4, will be entertaining crows from noon to 7:30 p.m. The children's area (11 a.m. to 5 p.m.) features rock climbing, the Tumble Bus, strong man competition, mini golf and more, with additional entertainment from the BC Lions Cheerleaders and the Shriners Mustang raffle. ELECTRIC AVENUE

Heading to downtown PoCo for the car show? Don't miss the display of electric vehicles - including the rare 1912 Detroit Electric - stationed at Heritage at Leigh Square (2100-2253 Leigh Sq.). The show runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is a partnership between the PoCo Heritage and Cultural Society and the Vancouver Electric Vehicle Association. Email [email protected] for more information.

GO INCOGNITO

Rocky Point Park will be rocking to the sounds of Incognito, featuring Nadine States, in this weekend's installment of the Summer Sundays series. Incognito is known as one of Vancouver's top R&B bands, boasting four CDs and loads of touring miles under their belts.
