In preparation for an exciting year in Port Moody, the Golden Spike Can Can Dancers are now accepting new members.

Port Moody's Centennial is in 2013 and the Golden Spike Can Can Dancers plan to be part of the celebrations.

The dancers are a group of women who volunteer their time to practising and dancing in order to raise money for charities. They have performed at the Golden Spike Days Festival in Port Moody for 35 years and throughout the rest of the year, members perform and make appearances at fundraisers, casino nights, golf tournaments, seniors' centres and other special events.

From the donations the group accepts for its performances, proceeds go to a charity that is chosen by the group at the beginning of the year.

Membership in the Golden Spike Can Can Dancers is free and practices are held on Mondays from 7 to 9 p.m. in Port Moody. Members must be 19 years of age or older as the group performs at licensed drinking establishments - but there is no maximum age.
