This Sunday, Sept. 16 from noon to 4 p.m., customers are invited to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Share'd Treasures Thrift Store at 2402 St. Johns Street, Port Moody.

The Share'd Treasures Thrift Store was started by Gertie Grosser in 1972 as a children's clothing exchange to help low-income mothers to exchange their baby clothes. Grosser collected clothing donations from the public, stored the items in her basement, and hosted clothing exchanges with these mothers on her front lawn.

Forty years later, Share continues to implement new programs based on the changing needs of vulnerable members of the Tri-City and adjacent communities.

There will be a store-wide 50% sale off during the celebration as well as cup cakes, with all proceeds going to Share's programs and services.
