Help needed with cancer battle

Fundraiser planned for Nov. 5 at The Arms pub in Port Coquitlam

A pair of fundraisers are being held to help a Tri-City man fight cancer.

More than two years ago, Jeff Burkholder was diagnosed with a Grade 2 oligodendronglioma brain tumour. He immediately underwent surgery and underwent radiation. But 18 months later, the tumour was back.

He had another surgery earlier this year and will have a third next week.

As chemotherapy apparently doesn’t help with this type of tumour, he is using alternative forms of treatment for which his friends and family are raising money.

They’ve set up an online crowdfunding account and have so far raised more than $11,000 towards a goal of $50,000.

As well, they’re hosting a fundraiser Nov. 5 at The Arms pub in Port Coquitlam.
