Port Coquitlam firefighters Kirk Patterson, Adam Myles and Ryan Masi are part of Movember this month to build awareness and raise funds for men's health.
And on Friday, the department will host its fifth annual hockey tournament at Planet Ice — a day-long event that will see 16 teams from other Lower Mainland firefighting units also supporting the cause.
IAFF Local 1941 spokesperson James Harcus said the tourney has brought in more than $65,000 since 2010 for cancer and mental health research.
It runs from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Coquitlam rink but anyone not able to make it on Nov. 20 can attend the after-party at Orrange Kitchen + Bar (111-1125 Nicola Ave., PoCo), where raffle and 50/50 tickets will be sold.
