Wondering what to do with the kids on their first two pro-D days of the new school year?

They can join professional artists and instructors at Coquitlam's Evergreen Cultural Centre for three educational and fun programs for kids (as well as two new professional development workshops for teachers).

FOR KIDS

The Incredible Journey of Baby Honu, Sept. 20 and Oct. 25, 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.: Mandy Tulloch and a small group of local teens will perform this touching play about a baby turtle using song, dance, and spoken word. After the show, the teens and Tulloch will revisit some of the songs and dances and teach them to the audience. These performances are for all ages. Tickets are $7 per student (discounts available for groups of 30 or more) and chaperones get in free.

Festive Fall, Sept. 20, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.: Children will create a mixed-media collage from objects found on a nature walk and work with clay to make fun, decorative pumpkins. Open to ages seven to 14 years and cost is $50 per person. After-care available from 3 to 5 p.m. for $10 per child.

Halloween Masque-rade, Oct. 25, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.: Children will create Halloween ,asks and scary scenes using a variety of tools and techniques in this workshop, which is open to kids seven to 14 years old. Cost is $50 per child, with after-care available from 3 to 5 p.m. for $10 apiece.

FOR TEACHERS

A Voice for the Class-room, Oct. 25, 10 a.m. to noon: Explore voice and physical presence and learn how to maximize your communication skills in this theatrical refresher workshop for both new and experienced teachers. Cost: $30.

Approaching Middle School Art, Friday, Oct. 25, 1 to 3 p.m.: Learn easy and fun art projects using techniques such as paint, drawing and sculpture, designed especially for Middle Schools. Cost: $30.
