On Thursday, April 23, Pam Becker, vice-principal of Riverside secondary school and Marna Macmillan, School District 43 social responsibility coordinator, will talk about recent research regarding the developing student brain. The workshop, from 6:45 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., will also offer information about educational links for academic and social/emotional growth, examples of successful SD43 programs, projects and initiatives and ways parents can use new strategies.

The Empower Your Brain: Advances in Education and Neuroscience workshop will be held at Riverside secondary school in Port Coquitlam and the cost is $8 per couple and $5 per single.

Free child minding is also available. Advance registration is requested at [email protected]. (If you plan to bring children, leave your name, number of children attending and telephone number.)

Light refreshments will also be provided.

Payments can be made at check-in, early arrival is encouraged, and cheques can be made out to SFSPE or Southside Family of Schools Parent Education. Walk-ins will be accepted only if space is available.
