Lower Fraser focus of Naturalists’ meeting

Burke Mountain Naturalists' meet April 12
fraser

The lower Fraser River is one of the most biologically rich waterways in the North America.

Not only is it the migration corridor for hundreds of millions of fish, it is highly productive rearing habitat for salmonids and non-salmonids as well as for countless other species, including plants, invertebrates, birds and mammals.

The ecological significance of this portion of the Fraser will be described by guest speaker Marvin Rosenau at Tuesday’s meeting of the Burke Mountain Naturalists. Rosenau’s presentation will also describe some of the threats to the area from dredging and other human activities.

The April 12 meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the church hall of Como Lake United Church, located on the corner of Marmont Street and King Albert Avenue in Coquitlam.

Everyone is welcome to attend and there is no charge.
