Think about Terry on Friday.

April 12 is the day the Port Coquitlam hometown hero started on his epic Marathon of Hope 33 years ago from St. John's, N.L.

And organizers with the BC/Yukon branch of the Terry Fox Foundation want supporters to commemorate that special day in 1980 by lacing up their runners for a 5 km run, walk or cycle, starting at Fox's alma mater. (The foundation is also asking supporters to text TERRYFOX to 45678 to donate $5 to the cause.)

The Terry Fox statue outside of Terry Fox secondary (1260 Riverwood Gate, Port Coquitlam) will be the meeting point for the event, which starts at 5 a.m. - "Terry's favourite time to run," said provincial director Donna White, noting Fox's older brother, Fred, will be among the participants. For more information on Friday's run, call the foundation office at 604-464-2666.
