Teen Tiny Art Show
Calling all artists, 12 to 19 years old! Pick up your tiny artist kit starting on May 5. Create a tiny masterpiece and return it to the library by Thursday May 26 to be part of the Tiny Art Show (May 30-June 18). Each tiny artist kit includes a 3″x3″ canvas, three tubes of acrylic paint, and a brush (supplies limited).
May Days Flash Fiction Contest
April 15 – May 15
Sharpen your pencils and get ready to write! The contest is a collaboration between the City of Port Coquitlam and the Terry Fox Library. Each entry must be a mystery story that takes place in Port Coquitlam and contains a secret passage. Science Expo
Calling science-lovers of all ages! Get a closer look at the experiments and science projects created by local students during Science Expo on May 7. With bright scientific minds competing for $2,100 in prize money, this is an event that shouldn’t be missed! Presented in partnership with Douglas College and School District 43. Leonardo Da Vinci Aviation Exhibit
Saturday, May 21, 12:00 – 4:00 pm, City Centre branch.
Families with children ages 7 – 14 come learn about Leonardo Da Vinci's flying machine designs in this partnership with the 101st Griffin Canadian Air Scout Group. Generative Arts with JavaScript

Canada Learning Code designed this beginner workshop for adults 18+. Learn the fundamentals of computer programming in a visual context, and discover how simple mathematical equations can create beautiful and engaging outcomes (no calculations required!) English Conversation Club for Kids
A fun group for kids to practice their English speaking skills. Talk about your favourite sports, video games, and books while making friends with other kids who are working on their English language skills. All language levels are welcome. This program takes place in person in the library. Please sign up for each week individually. Thursdays from 4:30-5:30 pm, for ages 9-13.
Zine Making Workshop
Zines are homemade magazines, with a twist! They are fun and free and can be on any topic you can think of, and are an important way to give a voice to people who are often neglected in traditional media. We will make our own Zines about the things we are passionate about, using mixed media and creative methods. May 25th, 6:30-7:30 pm, for ages 10+.
Writers in Our Midst
Writers in our Midst (WiOM) is a popular reading series of fiction, poetry, and performance. This family-friendly affair is back online for Writers in our Midst #21. Join us on Facebook Live for a chance to hear and meet local authors. May 3rd, 7:00-8:30 pm.
