A seminar later this month at a Coquitlam seniors' facility will offer plenty of food for thought.

Jennifer Messina, a registered dietician and nutritionist, will host a seminar on "mindful eating" on Friday, May 31 from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at Dogwood Pavilion.

Mindful eating is not a diet - there are no menaus or recipes - is a strategy for sustained weight loss that focuses on how you eat rather than what you eat. It is an approach to eating that involves paying attention to the process of eating, including: making choices to start or finish a meal based on awareness of hunger; watching for cues for mindless eating; increasing the quality of your meal, not the quantity; and more.

Messina will share practical ideas that will help participants on a daily basis be more mindful of what and how they are eating.

The fee for this seminar is $5 and pre-registration is required.
