A Port Coquitlam blueberry farmer is offering up his crops for a song to spare them from the sudden summer heat.
"Because of the weather - it was wet in the spring and cold, and now it's too hot - we are losing our crop," said Karam Dhanwant, owner of Ankars Farms. "Instead of losing them, why not have people come and take it?"
Dhanwant is welcoming people to his two farms, at 2952 Burns Rd. and 440 Prairie Rd. to pick the blueberries before they're melted by the sun.
The buckets of berries need to be weighed for crop insurance purposes, and Dhanwant said people can pay whatever they feel is fair.
"There's no fixed price," he said for the non-spray blueberries.
The farms are open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week.
