Do you know a young person in the Tri-Cities who has made a difference in the community over the past year?

If so, you have until next Tuesday to nominate him or her for a REACH award.

The three cities are looking to honour outstanding kids aged between 11 and 18 years; prizes will also be handed out to youth groups, business and organizations as well as adult mentors.

Here are the criteria:

For youth or youth groups: Nominees must be in Grades 6 to 12 and have volunteered consistently over the past year in the community.

For businesses or organizations: This category is open to local non-profit, private and public groups that have made a positive impact in young people's lives.

For adult mentors: Nominees can include coaches, teachers, youth workers/counsellors and neighbours who have volunteered or worked with youth.

To nominate a candidate, pick up a form at the Hyde Creek recreation centre (1379 Laurier Ave., PoCo), email [email protected] or go online at www.pocoyouth.com/reachawards.

Valid nominees will be recognized at the Tri-City REACH awards ceremony on May 2, during Youth Week. For more information, visit www.pocoyouth.com.
