If you like to walk and you're 50 years of age or older, you might enjoy nordic walking and the extra benefits gained.

Using specialized poles with rubber cushion foot tips that reduce stress to your hips, knees and ankle joints, you combine the aerobic and strength-building benefits of cross-country skiing, burning up to 28% more calories, without having to walk faster.

You can join instructor Cheryl Lebrun at Dogwood Pavilion on Wednesdays for four weeks starting May 8 from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m. The sessions will be held rain or shine and poles are provided. Cost is $22 per person and pre-registration is required. To register and for more information, call 604-927-4386.
