Order of St. George for Port Coquitlam resident

A Port Coquitlam resident was invested last week with the Order of St. George for her ongoing work with Afghan veterans. Lt. (N) Melanie Graham, who retired from the Canadian Armed Forces in 2012, was given the honour in Ottawa last Saturday.

Lt. (N) Melanie Graham, who retired from the Canadian Armed Forces in 2012, was given the honour in Ottawa last Saturday.

Graham, who was in the regular force for 11 years starting in 2000 as a naval reservist, is best known for her work as a naval public affairs officer.

She served as a liaison officer for the USS John C. Stennis, a base tours supervisor at CFB Esquimalt, a public affairs officer with Lord Strathcona Horse Artillery during the 2010 Vancouver Olympics and a public affairs officer for the 1 Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group.

Graham is now working in digital media, including publishing and film production. Her latest project can be seen at afghanistanacanadianstory.ca.

The mandate of the Order of St. George is to support military personnel and cadets.
