The Leigh Square Community Arts Village is seeking nominations for board members on the Friends of Leigh Square Society.

The Friends of Leigh Square Society is a community organization with non-profit charitable status that works in partnership with the city of Port Coquitlam. It is dedicated to facilitating the growth of artistic and cultural opportunities for the community and connecting the arts with all people and businesses.

Candidates work, live or play in Port Coquitlam with professional skills to offer such as marketing/communications, bookkeeping, writing, education, exhibitions and event planning and an interest in the arts, culture and heritage. This is a group of dynamic and fun individuals from all walks of life wanting to make a difference in their community.

You do not have to be an artist but you'll learn a lot about art and cultural practices by being involved. The board currently consists of eight members and can go up to 12. New board members will serve for a two-year term that begins April 1, 2011 and ends March 31, 2013.

Self-nominations, consenting nominations and suggestions are all welcome.
