If your parents are getting on in years, Port Moody's community care committee is hosting two free classes - one next week, one next month - on caring for them.

The "Aging Gracefully" sessions are for adults who struggle with how to preserve their relationship with their parents as they become more dependent on them for their health, safety and well-being.

The workshops offer information on practical, stress-relieving resources available to adult children of senior parents. Speakers include:

Heather Holden, ScotiaMcLeod - helping you get your parents' finances and daily banking organized;

Gayle Carter, Royal LePage - helping you negotiate with your parents regarding real estate and other issues;

Keri Martens, notary - helping you understand your legal options and responsibilities;

Janet Hassell, Home Instead - helping you plan the progression of home care services available to your parents;

Stephanie Chan, Home to Home - helping you navigate the system of assisted living facilities and levels of care.

You can choose from two sessions: Saturday, March 19, 10 a.m. to noon; or Saturday, April 9, 1 to 3 p.m. Both sessions will be held in the Inlet Theatre in Port Moody city hall, 100 Newport Dr.

Admission is free but registration is required. Call 604-469-4702 or go to www.portmoody.ca/aginggracefully.
