Movies, youth recognition and tournaments will mark Port Coquitlam's celebration of Youth Week.
Beginning with the Tri-City Youth REACH Awards last night (Thursday), PoCo will continue to recognize and celebrate the contributions of youth with several free and low-cost events, some of which require-preregistration.
Tonight (Friday), there is a free movie night at Hyde Creek rec centre followed by a swim (6 to 10 p.m.). On Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m. there will be a dodgeball tournament at the Hyde Creek sports hall.
Other events include:
a skateboarding competition at Railside Skatepark on Sunday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.;
a hockey tournament between youths, RCMP officers and teachers Monday at Kwayhquitlum middle school, 6 to 9 p.m.;
and indoor laser tag, sumo suits and human hamster races for youth at Minnekhada middle Tuesday, May 6 for youth ages 10 to 16 from 6 to 9 p.m.
The week concludes on May 7 with an intergenerational dinner in the lounge at Wilson Centre. Tickets can be purchased in person or by calling 604-927-7970.
