On Saturday, Sept. 6, Port Moody Public Library will celebrate the accomplishments of hundreds of young readers.

Children who joined the Funny Business Summer Reading Club and read for 50 days this summer will receive a gold medal, sponsored by the Royal Bank Financial Group.

Starting at 1 p.m., young readers will go on stage in the Inlet Theatre to receive their medals and completion certificates from special guests, including Port Moody Mayor Mike Clay, MLA Linda Reimer and Royal Bank representative Janet Philips.

Before or after the ceremony, kids can take part in face painting, crafts, games and enjoy refreshments courtesy of Thrifty Foods. Children registered in the Port Moody Library's Summer Reading Club can pick up their timed ticket at the library information desk. No waiting in long lineups - just arrive at the time printed on your ticket.

And for club members, there's still time to come in and collect stickers to reach that 50-day goal.

The Summer Reading Club is co-sponsored by the British Columbia Library Association, with assistance from Libraries and Literacy, Ministry of Education.
