A Coquitlam-based group that helps young people needs some help itself.

Children of the Street Society is hosting pub night Thursday, July 5 at the John B neighbourhood pub. The third annual fundraiser collects cash for the society's prevention, education, early intervention and support programs addressing the sexual exploitation of children and youth.

The event runs from 6 to 9 p.m. (food served until 7:30 p.m.) and tickets cost $20 each, which includes a burger (chicken, beef, or veggie), fries and a drink (must be 19 years or older to attend).

Besides food and fun, the fundraiser will feature a silent auction and a 50/50 draw.

Pub night tickets can be purchased online at www.childrenofthestreet.com or in person on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Children of the Street Society's office, Suite 208, 1130 Austin Ave., Coquitlam (you must call ahead: 604-777-7510).

This past school year, Children of the Street Society's school-based program Taking Care of Ourselves, Taking Care of Others (TCO2) delivered 541 prevention workshops to 22,524 children and youth in 33 communities throughout B.C.
