Night time is the right time to explore Minnekhada Regional Park in Coquitlam.
From 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, you can join a Metro Vancouver Parks worker to watch the rainforest search for nocturnal animals that become active under the moon's shadows. Listen carefully for coyote howls and owl hoots and swoops. You may even catch a glimpse of a flying squirrel and see salamanders stalk insects.
Rainforest by Night is for people six years of age and older; the cost is $8 per person for adults, $4.25 for children, youths and seniors. Advance registration is required by calling 604-432-6359 or going to www.metrovancouveronline.org and using barcode 5887.
