Christmas has passed, Boxing Day sales are done and now it's time to clear out the old electronic clutter.
B.C. is the first Canadian province to offer free recycling for all kinds of electronic toys, including:
plush textiles with electronics, including dolls and stuffies;
metal or hard plastic toys with electronics;
remote control vehicles and ride-on vehicles;
hand-held game devices as well as gaming devices that work with a PC or TV.
Every electronic toy is dismantled in the recycling process and all of its components are sorted and made into a wide variety of new items. Every bit of a toy that can be recycled - from plastics to circuit boards to various metals - is turned into something new and useful.
You can recycle old batteries too. The Call2Recycle program keeps batteries out of the landfill by reclaiming precious metals and turning them into new batteries and stainless steel products.
