Rotarians launch food drive in Coquitlam

Tri-City shoppers are asked to be a little extra generous this weekend and contribute to the local Rotary Clubs' biannual Generous Hearts Food Drive. The drive will help fill the larders at Share Family and Community Services' food bank this fall.

Tri-City shoppers are asked to be a little extra generous this weekend and contribute to the local Rotary Clubs' biannual Generous Hearts Food Drive.

The drive will help fill the larders at Share Family and Community Services' food bank this fall.

Every two weeks, Share distributes food hampers to a minimum of 900 families in the Tri-Cities and on Oct. 13 and 14, local Rotarians will collect staple food products to fill them.

Peanut butter, rice, canned meat and vegetables will be collected by Rotarians at six grocery stores, including the IGA Marketplace stores in Coquitlam and Port Moody; PriceSmart Foods in Coquitlam; Save On Foods in Port Coquitlam; and Thrifty Foods in Coquitlam and Port Moody.

As well, Share will collect donations at 2615 Clarke St., Port Moody, and any local grocery store with a food bank box in the Tri-Cities will also collect food. Those wishing to give a financial donation can call 604-540-9161 or visit www.sharesociety.ca.
