A parent advisory council that opposed the sale of a portion of its school fields is now turning to magic to raise funds for school projects - and is getting help from the board office.

A parent advisory council that opposed the sale of a portion of its school fields is now turning to magic to raise funds for school projects - and is getting help from the board office.

Porter Street elementary in Coquitlam is hosting a magic show featuring John Kaplan and School District 43 secretary treasurer Rick Humphreys has agreed to be part of the fun.

The show takes place Friday, Nov. 30 from 7-9 p.m. at Como Lake middle school, 1121 King Albert Street, and tickets can be purchased at www.pspac.com or the school website.

Kaplan's show combines the magic of Christmas with various illusions and funds raised will go towards technology and a playground.

Late last month the School District 43 board of education voted against selling off Porter Street property for nine lots and on Tuesday, before The News' deadline, the board was expected to vote on whether to sell off a portion of school property at Parkland elementary.
