Families with young children will see more pop-up play opportunities and get access to more information about programs thanks to a new program funded by the provincial government.
Share Family and Community Services has received a $52,000 grant for the Tri-City Early Years Centre to link up services, programs and support and share them with families.
"We want to make sure we're getting information out to people consistently, this program helps us do that," said Share CEO Martin Wyant.
One of the initiatives will be more pop-up play opportunities where "you bring a duffel bag of things and you look at creating and engaging opportunities where [families] are already spending time," Wyant said.
The grant was supported by the Tri-Cities ECD Committee, which recently produced a resource map to help parents locate resources, parks, schools and other services. The map has been printed in English, Farsi, Korean and Chinese, and is available by emailing [email protected] or [email protected]. An online version is available at www.tricitiesecd.ca.
