Skate, swim in Coquitlam on Pro-D Day, Feb. 1

There are lots of time slots open for ice skating in Coquitlam for SD43 students on Pro-D Day, Feb. 1.

School District 43 students out on Pro-D Day can skate and swim at Coquitlam recreation centres on Monday, Feb. 1.

The all-ages public skates — for one hour each — will begin at the Poirier Sport and Leisure Complex (633 Poirier St., Coquitlam) at 8:45 a.m., 10:15 a.m., 11:45 a.m., noon, 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. in two arenas; enter through the Arena 3 door.

And, at the Poirier and at City Centre Aquatic Complex (1210 Pinetree Way, Coquitlam), the city is offering 40-minute family or leisure swimming time slots between 6:30 a.m and 11:30 a.m., or 3:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Social distancing protocols are in place and participants must wear masks while travelling in all indoor facilities to comply with the provincial mask mandate order.

Registration for drop-in activities is available 48 hours in advance and must be prepaid online or by phone. 

And in Port Moody on Feb. 1, the city hosts "household skates" starting at 9 a.m., 10:30 a.m. and noon.

Registration begins 24 hours in advance by calling 604-469-4556. The ice will be divided into three zones and households will have exclusive use of their own zone. Each designated skate session will be $15 per household for 60 minutes of skate time.
