When you begin gardening, you might want to start small.
And some green thumbs want to stay small.
For those people, Sunday's Port Moody Farmers Market hosts its final Small-scale Gardening Workshop (it was postponed from last weekend).
Rachel Elves from Burquitlam Community Organic Garden Society and Green Zebra Markets in Vancouver will lead participants through building their own DIY self-watering planter.
With this cheap to make and easy to duplicate planter, you can leave your plants to self-water for quite a while. This workshop is perfect for those who might not have the time to garden often or possibly want to add to their existing garden without adding to their workload.
The April 26 event will be outside and participants may be handling messy materials, so they should dress appropriately.
Registration is $10 but you can pick up $10 worth of market coins when you check in at the information table.
You can register for one of two times: 10:30 a.m. or noon, at eventbrite.ca (search Port Moody Farmers Market).
