O CANADA!

Some 1,300 Tri-City students last week got a lesson in Canadian history and the country's two official languages.

Canadian Heritage dropped in at Banting, Maillard and Kwayhquitlam middle schools as well as Ecole Riverside secondary to present bilingual performances called O Canada!, which are sponsored by the Canadian Parents for French in BC and Yukon.

MAKING A STATEMENT

High school students at Coquitlam's Dr. Charles Best secondary voiced their message loud and clear last week in front of the Vancouver Art Gallery.

The students in Ken Ipe's social justice class gathered names for a petition to protest trophy bear hunting.

PMAC & PCT

A Port Moody company this month handed over a big cheque toward the expansion of the PoMo Arts Centre, located at 2425 St. John's St.

PCT Terminals shipped over a $5,000 cheque to the facility, which plans to link its heritage building with the Centennial/Appleyard House - another city heritage home.

The money was received by PMAC Society president Ann Kitching and executive director Bruce Campbell.
