The founder of a restaurant chain that recently opened in Coquitlam this month served up $2,689 to the Coquitlam Foundation for its investment fund.

Cora Mussely Tsouflidou of Cora Breakfast and Lunch and her son, Nick, presented the cash to the foundation's executive director Laurel Lawson, chairperson Colleen Talbot and other directors and volunteers. The cash was raised during the eatery's Family and Friends Day.

OFF TO SHAD

Twelve high school students from the Tri-Cities have earned spots in July in the Shad Valley program, an intensive learning course that happens at 10 Canadian universities.

They are: Julie Cho and Nicholas Ellery of Gleneagle secondary; Kyle Liang, Vishal Shangari, Anna Wang, Elizabeth Yang, Anna Yin, Jennifer Chew, Amy Liang and Mariam Manna of Port Moody secondary; Brendan Wong of Dr. Charles Best secondary; and Port Coquitlam's Hayden Lau, who attends Burnaby Mountain secondary.

A total of 500 students across the country will take part in Shad Valley this year.
