SPOTLIGHT: College help from credit union

For the fifth year, Envision Financial has deposited money into Douglas College for its business students. The $26,000 donation allows the credit union to team with students with local non-profits to better serve clients.

last month saw students at École Maillard middle school in Coquitlam chow down on pancakes as part of the Breakfast Club program, which the company sponsors. "My team loves to go for the holiday pancake breakfast and help out," GM Serge Laredo said.

Coquitlam's Shoppers Drug Mart was one of five stores to donate toward women's mental health programs at Royal Columbian Hospital. Shoppers' customers helped to give $6,150 through the company's campaign Grow Women's Health (formerly Tree of Life).

Port Coquitlam operations manager Mani Deo is the only Canadian fleet professional honoured by an international magazine as being a future leader in his field. The recognition of the best 20 Under 40 came this month from Government Fleet.

John Brown and Shirley Dunford of Port Coquitlam's Royal Canadian Legion branch 133 presented Eleanor Ryrie of the Eagle Ridge Hospital Foundation with $2,000 for veterans' care at the Port Moody health centre.

Coquitlam's Jim and Colleen Henderson are dreaming of R&R in Mexico after she won the grand prize from the Crossroads Hospice Society raffle this month. Proceeds from the annual raffle support the Port Moody hospice care centre and its bereavement programs.
