CKNW Orphans' Fund has granted $25,000 to the Tri-City-based Share society to provide Hanen programs to families with children that have speech and language delays.

Share's early intervention therapy team helps kids under the age of five with developmental challenges. The Hanen Centre is a Canadian group that offers training and support to professionals who work with kids.

HAMMER TIME

Home Depot stores in Metro Vancouver recently hammered in nearly $25,000 for the Tri-City Transitions Society.

The cash was raised through the company's annual Buy a Hammer, Build Our Community campaign that ran from May 30 to July 3.

"This generosity and support will help us continue to provide safe, supportive emergency transitional housing to women and children fleeing abuse. It also helps to us to strength family and community by working to break the cycles of abuse," stated Carol Metz Murray,Transitions' executive director.
