Coquitlam resident and SFU professor Gary Mauser, president of the Barnet Rifle Club, joined Les Bogdan, director of regional operations with Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC), which recently completed the rebuild of the Pitt-Addington Management Area in Coquitlam.

With the club's help - as well as B.C.'s ministry of forests - DUC was able to wrap up the rebuild in earlier this year by replacing and improving the original water controls which they built in the 1980s.

HOSPICE $

Jason Jakubec, vice-president of the Tri-City-based Crossroads Hospice Society board of directors, and development officer Anna Wilczewski recently accepted a $2,000 donation from RBC officials Brian DeGear and Brandy Hood of the Coquitlam Town Centre branch. The money is a result of two grants received through RBC's Day of Service program.

As well, representatives from Bayshore Home Health contributed $1,935 to Crossroads Hospice Society. The cash was collected through pledges, bake sales, a fundraising dinner and a corporate donation.

SAR AWARD

A member of Coquitlam Search and Rescue will receive a posthumous award from the Canada National SAR Secretariat for his exemplary service to the organization.

Roland Webb, who was killed in a car accident earlier this year in Anmore, was a SAR member for 21 years with four SAR groups in B.C. as well as a paramedic with the BC Ambulance Service.
