A Coquitlam realtor has been named vice chairman of the Real Estate Council of BC. Marshall Cowe of Royal LePage Coronation West was recently elected for a two-year term; Michael Ziegler, of Newport Realty in Victoria, was chosen as the council's board chairman.

NEW PREZ

The Port Moody Foundation, a philanthropic group that manages five endowment funds totaling more than $500,000, has a new president. Robert Simons was named to the top job this month to replace David Spence. Newly elected to the board of directors are Catherine Burns (owner of IRM Training Solutions); former city councillor Jo-Anne Parneta; and Danny Pero, a financial advisor with Raymond James in Port Moody. Wayne Borthwick, Margaret Matthews, Julie Saito, Paul Thiel and Karen Van Gilder will return for another term.

Two Tri-City army cadets who attended the Vernon Army Cadet Summer Training Centre took home hardware after being named top in their field. Azaly Addam of 2893 RCACC in Port Coquitlam was selected as the best cadet in the second intake of general military training; he accepted his award from LCol Kevin Tyler, commanding officer of the Rocky Mountain Rangers, who also presented Bernard Shin of 2827 RCACC in Port Moody with the best cadet in 16 Platoon accolade.
