The new head of the Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation, which serves Tri-City residents, was recognized this month with a top fundraising award.

President and CEO Jeff Norris, who started in his job in September, was honoured by the Vancouver chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.

His 2014 Giving Hearts Award was presented during a national philanthropy day event on Nov. 14.

"We proudly congratulate Jeff on being recognized for his leadership in the charitable sector," said RCHF chair Doug Eveneshen, a Coquitlam resident.

"Royal Columbian Hospital is poised for significant redevelopment in the coming years and Jeff's experience will be instrumental in finding ways for the community to support this project."

Previously, Norris worked for the Kwantlen Polytechnic University for nine years and St. Paul's Hospital Foundation for seven years.

He's also worked for the Heart and Stroke Foundation and the Kidney Foundation.
