POPPIES, PAINT

Port Moody's Crossroads Hospice benefitted from two groups last month - a donation from a Legion branch and a contribution from a Tri-City business. Members of the annual poppy campaign at Coquitlam's Royal Canadian Legion handed over $3,000 to the facility while staff at Benjamin Moore Tri-City Paint in Port Coquitlam rolled in $800 to the society. "We are so pleased to be able to help raise funds for this much needed resource in our community. We supplied the paint when the hospice was built and continue, in whatever ways we can, to stay committed to Crossroads," said store owner Thoma Doehring in a news release.

13 GRADS

A new program offered by Port Coquitlam's Higher Ground Wellness Society saw 13 students graduate last month. Stand Firm on Higher Ground, a 10-week program based at Northside Church (Kingsway campus) that teaches life skills to individuals making life transitions and become positive and successful community members, recognized the grads with certificates.
