Start your giving early by helping overseas children

Eagle Ridge Bible Fellowship, 1160 Lansdowne Drive, Coquitlam, is coordinating the 2012 Operation Christmas Child shoe box campaign this year and is looking for support.

Last year, Canadians filled 672,274 shoe boxes with gifts that were distributed to children in the developing world. Locally, Eagle Ridge Bible Fellowship is hoping to collect between 2,500 and 3,000 boxes with items such as toys, school supplies, hygiene items, plus personal notes and photos.

The project is organized by Samaritan's Purse Canada, a Christian relief and development organization, that provides physical and spiritual aid to people around the world. Some of the gift boxes will go to needy children in Haiti, South or Central America or West Africa.

Local pick up and drop-off locations for boxes are as follows:

Dollar and More Store; Como Lake Village

Pac Mail, Sunwood Square (by JYSK)

Eagle Ridge Bible Fellowship is also the collection centre for the region. National Shoebox collection week is Nov. 19-25.
