Story time returns to Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody parks

Story time is heading to the great outdoors this summer, thanks to the Tri-Cities Literacy Committee. This year, programs will run in local parks from July 7 to Aug. 13, featuring stories, puppets and crafts.

Story time is heading to the great outdoors this summer, thanks to the Tri-Cities Literacy Committee.

This year, programs will run in local parks from July 7 to Aug. 13, featuring stories, puppets and crafts. Last year nearly 300 children took part in the program, and coordinator Barb Mancell hopes to see even greater participation this summer.

Here's the schedule:

Mondays, except for Aug. 4 BC Day, the program will be at Mackin Park (Coquitlam) from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. and at Sun Vally, Port Coquitlam from 1-2 p.m.

Tuesdays, the program will run at Rock Point Park in Port Moody from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. and Galloway Park (Burke Mountain, Coquitlam) from 1-2 p.m.

Wednesdays, the program will run at Blue Mountain Park, Coquitlam, from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m., Glen Park Coquitlam from 1-2 p.m. and Lions Park Port Coquitlam from 3-4 p.m.

Family Play and Learn at Coquitlam Center will be continuing throughout the summer, including June, July and August. The program takes place on the last Wednesday of the month form 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the lower level outside the Hudson's Bay. Themes for the summer are: June - First Nations, July - Read Around the World, August - Beach Blanket Bingo.
