Two sites have been chosen in the Tri-Cities to benefit from the TD Friends of the Environment Foundation Tree Days Tree Planting.

In Coquitlam at Marguerite Park, 1480 Marguerite St., 300 trees will be planted by volunteers on Sept. 21 to turn an area covered with non-native and invasive plants into a functional urban forest that will benefit the community and increase the area's carbon sequestration.

The following week, on Sept. 28, volunteers will plant more than 140 trees at Easthill Park in Port Moody. In this area, the trees will increase the forest canopy for carbon reduction, create habitat biodiversity and assist in storm water control.

Both events start at 9 a.m. To register as a volunteer, visit www.tdtreedays.com.
