BOOK BLOWOUT
Bargain hunters and bookworms can sift through thousands of gently used books for sale at the Port Moody Public Library (100 Newport Dr.) today from 5 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Hardcover tomes and DVDs are $1 while softcover books and CDs are 50 cents each. LOVELY STEPS
Port Moody's Caulfield School of Dance presents its 25th annual year-end production, titled Dreams, at Terry Fox Theatre (1260 Riverwood Gate, Port Coquitlam) tonight at 7 p.m., Saturday at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m., and Sunday at 1 p.m. The shows will feature the award-winning dancers, singers and actors of the school including four provincial representatives from this year's regional festivals. NOVELIST TALK
Port Coquitlam author Margaret Gunning will lead a writing workshop and speak about her latest offering The Glass Character, published this year by Thistledown Press. Hosted by the Tri-City Wordsmiths, the event takes place at the Terry Fox Library (2470 Mary Hill Rd., PoCo) from 2 to 4 p.m. The book launch will conclude with refreshments and a chance to chat with the author and other local writers. Riverside secondary (2215 Reeve St., Port Coquitlam) is the meeting point at 10 a.m. for the Tri-Cities Ridge Meadows Walk for ALS. The Peoples Drug Mart-sponsored walk has brought in more than $59,000 at this location over the past two years. This year's target is $30,000. Participants will walk, run or cycle along the Coquitlam River. Emceed by Yvonne Schalle of Global TV, the event will include entertainment, food and raffle tickets. Three Coquitlam and Port Coquitlam homes that underwent recent renovations will be open for public viewing as part of the Greater Vancouver Home Builders' Association (GVHBA) 21st annual Parade of Renovated Homes, happening today throughout the Lower Mainland. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., tour 934 Canyon Ct., Coquitlam (My House Design/Build Team); 1121 Spruce Ave., Port Coquitlam (TQ Construction); and 3936 Coast Meridian Rd., Port Coquitlam (Tuscan Developments).
