Bargain hunters and bookworms can sift through thousands of gently used books for sale at the Port Moody Public Library (100 Newport Dr.) today from 5 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Hardcover tomes and DVDs are $1 while softcover books and CDs are 50 cents each. And on Saturday after 12 p.m., anything that's left over is $5 a bag (bring your own sack). Call 604-469-4692.

LOVELY STEPS

Port Moody's Caulfield School of Dance presents its 25th annual year-end production, titled Dreams, at Terry Fox Theatre (1260 Riverwood Gate, Port Coquitlam) tonight at 7 p.m., Saturday at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m., and Sunday at 1 p.m. The shows will feature the award-winning dancers, singers and actors of the school including four provincial representatives from this year's regional festivals. NATURE WALK

Enjoy a guided two-hour walk with expert birders around Coquitlam's Colony Farm regional park. There are two times to choose from - 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. - or do both! Hosted by the Colony Farm Park Association, the walks are suitable for the whole family. NOVELIST TALK

Port Coquitlam author Margaret Gunning will lead a writing workshop and speak about her latest offering The Glass Character, published this year by Thistledown Press. Hosted by the Tri-City Wordsmiths, the event takes place at the Terry Fox Library (2470 Mary Hill Rd., PoCo) from 2 to 4 p.m. The book launch will conclude with refreshments and a chance to chat with the author and other local writers. I AM A PIZZA

Kids young and young-at-heart can join three children's performers at Coquitlam Town Centre Park this afternoon for a concert. At 3 p.m., Tony Prophet will take the stage while Norma McKnight is on at 3:45 p.m. And don't forget Charlotte Diamond - and her famous song I Am A Pizza - from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. The free show is part of the Festival Coquitlam weekend that includes the 25th annual Teddy Bear Parade and Picnic on Sunday. WHITE NIGHT

The Hot Salsa Dance Zone hosts its annual Dress in White Latin dance party in the rehearsal hall at the Evergreen Cultural Centre (1205 Pinetree Way, Coquitlam). RUNNERS ON

Riverside secondary (2215 Reeve St., Port Coquitlam) is the meeting point at 10 a.m. for the Tri-Cities Ridge Meadows Walk for ALS. The Peoples Drug Mart-sponsored walk has brought in more than $59,000 at this location over the past two years. This year's target is $30,000. Participants will walk, run or cycle along the Coquitlam River. Emceed by Yvonne Schalle of Global TV, the event will include entertainment, food and raffle tickets. TOUR THE HOMES

Three Coquitlam and Port Coquitlam homes that underwent recent renovations will be open for public viewing as part of the Greater Vancouver Home Builders' Association (GVHBA) 21st annual Parade of Renovated Homes, happening today throughout the Lower Mainland. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., tour 934 Canyon Ct., Coquitlam (My House Design/Build Team); 1121 Spruce Ave., Port Coquitlam (TQ Construction); and 3936 Coast Meridian Rd., Port Coquitlam (Tuscan Developments). Admission to the 22 professionally renovated homes is by passport, available at each location for $10 per person. Children 17 and under are free. LEST WE FORGET

Veterans from all theatres of war will be honoured at an annual luncheon at 1 p.m., served by the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 263 (1025 Ridgeway Ave., Coquitlam).
