MOVIE NIGHT

A French/Israeli flick about the life of a young Ethiopian boy is the feature this month for the Port Moody Film Society. The group screens the award-winning Live and Become (subtitled) at the Inlet Theatre (100 Newport Dr.) at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 plus a $5 annual membership to the society. Visit www.pmfilm.ca.

OLD WEST ROMANCE

Seven Tri-City actors are playing in the Royal City Musical Theatre's production of Oklahoma! at the Massey Theatre (735 Eighth Ave., New Westminster). See them in action in this time-honoured classic musical by Rodgers and Hammerstein, which made its Broadway debut 70 years ago, until April 27. ARTWALK

Kick off the 14th annual ArtWalk with a reception at the Old Mill Boathouse (2715 Esplanade Ave., PoMo) from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., then on Saturday and Sunday lace up your walking shoes for two days of walking and art viewing in PoMo's historic district and waterfront. There is also live entertainment, kids activities, hands-on art activities, craft vendors, a beer garden and more throughout Saturday (noon to 5 p.m.) and Sunday (noon to 4 p.m.). TRAILS BY NIGHT

Want to see how Colony Farm Regional Park comes alive at night? Adventurous participants in this Metro Vancouver event will get a glimpse of bats darting across the sky and hear the quiet whoosh of an owl and the distant howl of coyotes. GET WALKING

Join like-minded folks who love to trek the trails as the Mundy Mudthudders kick off their new season of weekly Saturday morning walks (at a steady pace for one hour). The group meets at 10:30 a.m. on the west side of Mundy Park, near the trailhead at the foot of Regan Avenue, adjacent to Hillcrest middle school. The 1st Port Coquitlam Scout Group hosts a bottle drive at Kilmer elementary (1575 Knappen St., PoCo) from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Call 604-970-2579 for pick-up. The 5th Coquitlam Scouts offer a manure sale at Hillcrest middle (2161 Regan Ave., Coquitlam) from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Grab 22-litre bags of steer or mushroom manure and garden soil at $5 per bag. FILM FESTIVAL

The Port Coquitlam Social Justice Film Festival at Trinity United Church (2211 Prairie Ave., PoCo) from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. features Bully, a plan for teachers, parents and the community calling for action and Consciousness, a flick about the future for Riverview; both are followed by a speaker and more movies will be played in the afternoon. ART OPENING

David Bizzo and the Burrard Inlet Artists Association celebrate the opening of the Talk of the Town Art Studios & Gallery (2414 St. Johns St.) this weekend. Located on the ground level of the new Burrard Public House, the gallery includes eight studios with movable walls. Drop by today and tomorrow from noon to 5 p.m.

GUITAR HERO

Guitar enthusiasts and all-around music lovers can see the world-renowned Don Alder in concert at PoCo's Trinity United Church (2211 Prairie Ave.) at 2 p.m. Known for his unique fingerstyle performance, Alder combines fingerpicking with percussion to create an immersive sound.
