WONDERFUL LIFE

Farside Theatre's It's a Wonderful Life - The Radio Play runs tonight and tomorrow at 7 p.m. at Northside Church (1460 Lansdowne Dr., Coquitlam), taking the audience to the 1947 radio broadcast of the play. CHOPSTICKS, TOO?

The award-winning Argentine drama Chinese Takeaway is this month's offering by the Port Moody Film Society. The Spanish- and Mandarin-language flick runs at 7:30 p.m. in the Inlet Theatre (100 Newport Dr., Port Moody) with tickets at $5 (plus $5 for a society membership) available at the city hall galleria after 6:45 p.m. Visit pmfilm.ca.

BENEFIT SHOW

Youth bands will rock Port Moody's Heritage Woods secondary for Project Theo. The Student Enterprise Club, a philanthropy and business group at the high school, will raise funds for HeritageForHumanity and Project 24. Alluvium, the Railway Boys and Bluesmoke will perform at the benefit concert. Tickets at $5 are available at the door of the school (1300 David Ave.). Doors open at 6:30 p.m., with the show an hour later.

WRESTLING

Get your fill of wrestling and help fill food bank hampers at the fourth annual Wrestling with Hunger, presented by Elite Canadian Championship Wrestling (ECCW) at 8 p.m. Bring non-perishable food items, unwrapped toys, warm clothing and blankets to the Elks Hall (2272 Leigh Sq., Port Coquitlam). The more you contribute, the greater your chance of winning prizes. Tickets are $18/$15.

DANCING DICKENS

Seventeen young Tri-City dancers are cast in Motus O's A Christmas Carol, on stage at the Evergreen Cultural Centre (1205 Pinetree Way, Coquitlam) until Saturday. Among those who won parts in the Charles Dickens' classic tale include Niki Moshirfatemi, who plays the character of Tiny Tim against James Croker's Scrooge. Tickets at $39/$30/$15 at 604-927-6555.

BREKKIE WITH SANTA

Have an early meal with Santa Claus - and take part in a sing-a-long and kids' activities - at the Port Coquitlam recreation complex (2150 Wilson Ave.) from 9 to 11 a.m. The cost is $8 (kids under three are free). FREE RIDE (WITH DONATION)

Ride the Santa Trains today by bringing a new, unused and unwrapped toy to any West Coast Express station and, in exchange, you will receive a return ticket for the West Coast Express (to be used the same day). The Santa Trains are sponsored by Black Press, The Tri-City News' parent company, and Rogers Radio Group. The morning trains, which arrive at Waterfront Station at 11:15 a.m., will stop at Port Coquitlam at 10:39 a.m., Coquitlam at 10:45 a.m. and Port Moody at 10:50 a.m. And they'll leave Waterfront at 4 p.m., arriving in PoMo at 4:24 p.m., Coquitlam at 4:29 p.m. and PoCo at 4:34 p.m. Call 604-488-8906 or visit translink.ca/santatrain.

Coquitlam's Glen Pine Pavilion for seniors (1200 Glen Pine) will entertain with lively holiday songs, skits and dances at its annual variety show from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Grandchildren can also get a visit with Santa Claus. Cost is $5. Call 604-927-6940.

PJ PARTY

The Coquitlam-based Coastal Sound Music Academy teams up with DragonDiva Opera for two musical "pajama-party" performances at the Eagle Ridge United Church (2813 Glen Dr., Coquitlam). Lace up your skates and join the bearded guy at the Port Coquitlam rink (2150 Wilson Ave.) for a holiday glide from 12:45 to 4 p.m. Bring your camera and have your photo taken with Santa on the Zamboni. JAZZY BLUES

The children's act The Blues Berries will have toes tapping with familiar seasonal songs - with a twist - such as I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas, The Santa Claus Blues, Rockin' Round the Christmas Tree and Boogie Woogie Santa Claus. The four-piece ensemble will play Evergreen Cultural Centre (1205 Pinetree Way, Coquitlam) at 2 p.m. Tickets are $16/$12 through the box office.
